702 Gourmet is a high-end gourmet restaurant with locations in Lekki and Ikoyi in Lagos, Nigeria. With the tagline "Feed Your Soul," 702 Gourmet provides an exceptional dining experience by offering home-cooked meals away from home. The restaurant features an extensive menu with over 500 different meal variations, allowing customers to customize their meal requests for a unique and personalized experience. Their diverse offerings include local Nigerian dishes, African dishes, intercontinental dishes, breakfast dishes, finger foods, and pastries, catering to a wide range of culinary preferences.

The Assignment

Gooro Consulting was tasked with leading the complete management of tech operations and assisting in the business management of 702 Gourmet's new Ikoyi restaurant. Our responsibilities included creating a comprehensive business plan, building and implementing processes, setting up and managing Google Drive storage, and setting up Orda Africa Software. Additionally, we managed recruitment process outsourcing, developed team culture, set up and managed a robust inventory management system, registered the restaurant as a vendor on ChowDeck, and handled company documentation such as the handbook, SOP, proposals, and tech asset management.

Business Planning and Strategic Implementation

Comprehensive Business Planning: We developed a detailed business plan that provided a strategic roadmap for the restaurant. This plan included in-depth market analysis, strategic objectives, and financial projections, laying the foundation for sustainable growth and operational excellence.

Operational Processes & SOPs: To ensure streamlined operations, we implemented comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) covering all aspects of the restaurant's functioning, including operations, procurement, cooking, waiting, accounting, cleaning, drinks service, delivery, recruitment, and onboarding. These SOPs also included general policies, staff training protocols, and customer service standards.


Employee Handbook & Policies: The creation of an employee handbook detailed the restaurant's values, policies, and practices, serving as a guide for employees and fostering a cohesive and informed work environment.

Menu and Pricing Creation: The restaurant's menu was developed through careful selection of dishes and setting competitive pricing based on market research and cost analysis.

Technology and Digital Infrastructure

Google Drive Setup & Management: We established a secure and organized Google Drive system, creating distinct folders for different departments and ensuring all documents were safely stored and accessible to relevant parties.

Orda Africa Software Integration: The integration of Orda Africa, a comprehensive Restaurant Management Software, facilitated seamless order processing, inventory control, and overall management. We also developed an e-commerce front-end, enabling real-time order placements directly to the kitchen's notice printer, thus enhancing operational efficiency.

Digital Assets & Web Presence: A visually appealing and user-friendly website was designed, incorporating the restaurant's brand identity and featuring updated menus and prices. This enhanced online presence has been crucial in attracting and engaging customers.

Social Media Management: The restaurant's social media account was streamlined to create and curate engaging content to attract and retain customers.

Recruitment and Team Development

Recruitment Process Outsourcing: Our team managed the recruitment process, posting job openings across various platforms, screening candidates, and conducting interviews. We successfully onboarded a skilled team, ensuring that all hires were aligned with the restaurant's culture and operational needs.

Team Culture Development: We emphasized building a strong team culture by fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment. This was supported by clear communication channels, including the creation of WhatsApp community platforms for management and staff, facilitating seamless information sharing.

Inventory and Vendor Management

Inventory Management System: We deployed a sophisticated inventory management system to track stock levels accurately, minimize waste, and ensure consistent availability of ingredients. This system has been crucial in maintaining the restaurant's extensive menu offerings.

Vendor Registration and Partnerships: We registered 702 Gourmet on ChowDeck, expanding its customer base and enhancing its market reach. Additionally, we explored potential partnerships with delivery services like Glovo and engaged in discussions for cleaning services and other operational partnerships.

Documentation and Asset Management

Comprehensive Documentation: Our team meticulously crafted and organized essential company documents, including the employee handbook, code of conduct, job descriptions, and a consequence matrix document. This documentation was integral in maintaining operational standards and providing clear guidelines for employees.

Tech Asset Management: We ensured that all technological assets were efficiently utilized and well-maintained, supporting the restaurant's operational needs and enhancing productivity.
